I’m put in mind of The Simpsons. “Hi, I’m Troy Mclure. You may have seen me in…”. Suffice to say, I’m not Troy Mclure but I have gone by many names. Offline I’m usually called Paul. Online I go by Ronin Storm, though many abbreviate that to Ronin. I’ve penned or played as Rhialto, Mikloshe, Muppet, Storm, Lightning and Sven across various bulletin boards, MUSHes, MMORPGs, online games and mailing lists. These days, though, I’m as much Ronin Storm as I am Paul, and I answer to Ronin face-to-face.
I’ve been involved with role-playing games since I was eight years old and computer games even longer than that. I’ve been working with bulletin boards and online communities as a moderator, developer or administrator since 1999 and I’ve had the privilege to work on some excellent community projects including Star Wars Galaxies: Role-players (SWG-RP) and TheHavenNet (THN).
I am, by nature, described well by Keirsey temperament type Rational Architect but learned behaviours also let me work as a Rational Mastermind. They’re just labels, I realise, but they’re not a bad start to helping one understand how I work. I’m happier as the Architect but I hate it when things break and more so when I know I could fix them.
I like cats, dogs and computers. I live with one (some might say two) of the former, three to five of the latter, and sadly none of the middle. I also live with Rojaws, my partner; technically, the cat is hers.
A brief version of my resume is held on LinkedIn.
That should suffice as a starter for ten…
